Application Form for ABOUTAsia Schools Volunteer Programme
ABOUTAsia Schools requires that all prospective volunteers have read in detail about Cambodia and the projects which we offer, both through our website and personal research.
Because of past and ongoing human rights and child sex abuses issues, ABOUTAsia Schools require all interested volunteers to have read our terms and conditions as set out below, before proceeding to fill in our application form.
Terms and conditions:
ABOUTASIA SCHOOLS STRONGLY URGES ALL OUR VOLUNTEERS TO PURCHASE HEALTH AND THIRD PARTY LIABILITY INSURANCE BEFORE COMING TO VOLUNTEER WITH US. IF THESE ARE NOT OBTAINED BY THE VOLUNTEER, WE RE-ITERATE THE FACT THAT UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES CAN ABOUTASIA SCHOOLS BE HELD LIABLE FOR ANY HEALTH PROBLEMS OR ACCIDENTS CAUSED BY THIRD PARTIES OF ANY KIND, AS SET OUT IN OUR LIABILITY WAIVER BELOW.
All accommodations and schools are rigorously checked for safety so that the volunteer has the safest possible experience. However, in the extremely unlikely event of an accident occurring while volunteering with ABOUTAsia Schools, we will do our absolute best to assist with any problems or emergency, however, legally we shall not be held responsible, as set out in our liability waiver below.
Criminal Background Check: I understand and agree that ABOUTAsia Schools may carry out a criminal background check prior to my starting a volunteer program, and understand that this is purely in the interest of child protection.
Child Protection policy: I have read and understood the Child Protection Policy of ABOUTAsia Schools and agree to sign this with a witness present on my arrival in Cambodia and initial meeting with ABOUTAsia Schools (males only).
Liability Waiver: Volunteering in Cambodia will inherently involve adapting to and experiencing a different way of life and customs to those which I will most likely be familiar. As a result I may be exposed to lesser standards of hygiene and safety, and I understand, accept and assume ALL risks and hazards which might present themselves during necessary day to day activities relating to my volunteer programme. I understand and acknowledge that I am in Cambodia as an unpaid volunteer for ABOUTAsia Schools and that they do not provide any type of health or liability insurance should I become sick or injured while in Cambodia.
Returnable Bond: To confirm my acceptance of the volunteering arrangements, I understand I must pay the US$200 bond either into Paypal
or by bank wire transfer into a USD account ABOUTAsia maintains in the Isle of Man. I am responsible for covering all transfer fees so that the bond is received in full by ABOUTAsia. A receipt will be issued for the received funds.
The bond is returned in full in US$ cash to me upon completion of my assignment. If a change of plans is communicated by email at least 21 days before the due start of
the volunteering assigment, then the bond is returned less only the bank transfer fees. In all of other cases, I will forfeit the bond and donate it to ABOUTAsia Schools.
Cancellation: I understand that ABOUTAsia Schools staff and the staff of its partner organizations reserve the right to offer or not to offer me a position and to cancel my program at any point during or prior to starting if it deems appropriate, and that no compensation will be offered in these circumstances.
